What we’ll cover:

Adding Your Own Insurance

Already have your own General Liability insurance? Great, you’re ahead of the game! You’ll need to get in touch with your insurance agent and ask them to send a Certificate of Insurance (COI) that meets the following 3 requirements:

  1. HOMEE, Inc. is listed as an additional insured on your policy within the Description of Operations Box. On the COI, make sure it states: “HOMEE, Inc. and affiliates under written contract are named as additional insureds.”

  2. HOMEE, Inc. is listed as the certificate holder on the COI as follows:

    HOMEE, Inc.
    1413 S. Howard Ave., STE 220
    Tampa, FL 33606

  3. Your policy includes the following coverage:

  • $2,000,000 - General Aggregate

  • $2,000,000 - Products and Completed Operations Aggregate

  • $1,000,000 - Personal & Advertising Injury

  • $1,000,000 - Each Occurrence

  • $50,000 - Damage to Premises Rented to You

  • $1,000 - Medical Expenses

Here’s an example of a COI to give you an idea of what we need. Once you've added HOMEE to your policy, you'll need to upload your COI to your profile in the HOMEE Pro app. Make sure the image you upload is clear to avoid delays in approval.

To add your General Liability insurance during registration:

  1. Tap Yes on the Do you have General Liability insurance screen.

  2. Review the policy requirements.

  3. Tap + GL Insurance and upload your Certificate of Insurance (COI).

  4. Review your COI, then tap Confirm.

We will store the policy expiration date in our system and inform you 2 weeks before, 5 days before, and the day of expiration to ensure you have the most up-to-date insurance on file. If your policy expires, you will be taken offline until it’s updated in our system.

Getting Insurance Coverage

Don't have insurance coverage? That's okay too. We have 2 different options for coverage from our partners that will allow you to go online and take jobs.

  1. Opt-in to short duration per job insurance

  2. Buy an annual General Liability policy

Get Insurance Coverage

Short Duration Insurance

Through our insurance partner, Coterie, Pros can get coverage just for the jobs they are working on instead of committing to an annual policy...and for as little as $4 per job. When you complete a job, the coverage will end, and your next job will have a brand-new policy written specifically for it.

Insurance premiums are based on a daily rate that can vary based on location and work type. The cost of your insurance is deducted from that job's earnings.

But what if:

  • I’m working on multiple Jobs – no problem. Coterie will issue you separate policies for each job. They will all share a $2,000,000 annual aggregate limit.

  • I need to suspend a job – that's okay, too. As soon as you suspend a job, your short-duration insurance stops. When you unsuspend, a new policy begins. You’ll see each policy broken down on the final receipt.

With short-duration insurance, you are protected the same way as if you have a regular General Liability policy (it's the same coverage!) against bodily injury claims or property damage up to $1,000,000 per incident.

Short duration insurance coverage is available in all states except for FL, MA, NJ, and Washington, D.C.

To opt-in to short duration insurance during registration:

  1. Tap No on the Do you have General Liability insurance screen.

  2. Tap Opt-in to short-duration insurance when taking a job.

  3. Review the requirements, then tap Next.

  4. Agree to the short duration insurance disclosure.

Once you receive a quote and decide on a policyholder, you’ll follow the same process above for adding your policy in the HOMEE Pro app.

Insurance for Managed Workforces

Company owners must also add their own policy to their profile, buy an annual policy, or opt-in to short duration insurance for their W2 employees in the HOMEE Pro app.

Employees part of a managed workforce don’t need their own insurance while working in company mode; they can use their employer’s insurance. If an employee wants to work in independent mode outside of their regular workday, they will need their own insurance.

If you decide that an annual policy isn’t for you and want to try out our short duration insurance (or vice versa), you can update your insurance at any time under your profile in the HOMEE Pro app.
